About this deal

However, when it comes to The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, there is just something there that has me coming back for more.

I also have the Harper Collins Deluxe edition box set of The Hobbit, LOTR (50th Anniversary), The Silmarillion and The Children of Hurin; the LOTR 60th anniversary single volume hardback edition illustrated by Alan Lee in a blue binder; the Deluxe LOTR Indian Paper single volume edition; The Hobbit illustrated by Jemima Catlin in a lovely cloth green hardback edition (this is actually my favourite edition of The Hobbit next to Alan Lee, with really good quality binding, paper and text font). An increasing interest in the roots of culture, together with a recognition of the importance of myth and archetype in understanding the human condition, led to a reflorescence of myth-based literature in the 20th century. Compared to the previous box set from Harper Collins (LOTR in three volumes + LOTR Readers Companion) the paper is twice as thick and very good quality.Naive in style but, for my money, perfectly capturing in paint the world he so lovingly creates in words. Dieses Buch ist wohl eine der schönsten und best-verarbeiteten Editionen des Herrn der Ringe die momentan auf dem Markt verfügbar ist.

printing of this ALAN LEE ILLUSTRATED Edition ) ---hardcover, a Near Fine/Fine example in a Near Fine/Fine dustjacket, a wee bit of light rubbing, jacket is now in a hi-quality mylar protector, Alan Lee illustrations and cover art, a very nice copy that looks new, , any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo. To be clear, I have many different copies of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings (LOTR), including the Folio Society editions from the eighties.

Covers blocked in gold and maps of Middle Earth as endpapers complete this superb edition of one the world’s favourite stories.Tolkien believed that the roots of myth and the roots of language are one and indivisible, and he demonstrated this belief by creating an entirely new language (Elvish) with its own grammar, its own beautiful script and its own mythology. The first adventure in the Folio Society editions of ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ series, Enid Blyton’s The Enchanted Wood features Jonathan Burton’s enchanting illustrations and a new introduction by Michael Morpurgo.
