About this deal

Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). It works separately from the track so you can do whatever you want without it actually changing the sequence underneath which reappears as soon as you go to another mode. You can set the timing division for each track to 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 and then Triplets if you wish.

I will keep my eye on this thread as I have been, for news of any firmware updates, news of any software editor (apparently one is in the works), and for other's experiences, hints, tips etc. Fingers crossed though (as the warranty clock does not restart with a new replacement), I’m glad to have this back with a fully working screen !It’s true that note entry via button holding and turning a single knob is not as immediate as a knob‑per‑step, but it’s really a question of which workflow you prefer. However I did find that there was some wonky behaviour when switching patterns that were set to differing step and pattern lengths, when set to Bar snap, I got some odd offsets between tracks that threw everything out of whack, but I couldn't figure out why it was doing that. I do wish that the transport controls had a light on, rather than just when active, which would nullify any fumbling around in the dark. But after reading up on it it seems there's a lot of criticism of it, especially regarding the midi clock, are they that bad? A powerful and compact step sequencer, SQ-64 combines intuitive functionality with deep editing capabilities giving you seamless control over your software and hardware setup.

Powered through USB or external 9V DC adaptor, a choice of power options offer both versatility and flexibility. There are all the usual suspects when it comes to scale choice but I couldn’t find a way to save my own custom scales. However this just doesn’t speak to me (yet) - can any fellow sq-1 users advise me to get one anyway? Each of the Melody tracks (x3) has 16 Patterns of up to 64 steps each, and the Drum track (x1) has 16 Sub-tracks also with up to 64 steps each, that can be played, chained and edited in a variety of ways.My local vendor (Perfect Circuit) has no word, but succinctly mentioned that while supplies and production are cut in half, demand is up by a factor of three. For all its connectivity, the SQ‑64 doesn’t have any CV inputs other than Sync, and it can’t record anything other than notes over MIDI.

There are a lot of configuration options and its likely that SQ-64 will fit your requirements, assuming that you are looking for a hardware sequencer.

MusicRadar verdict: An intuitive and very musical bit of gear and one that should stand the test of time. I’m impressed with the combination of features and compromises that Korg makes on their “budget” gear. The SQ‑64 could be the box that ignites a fusion of hardware and software music making in a modest tabletop studio. Updates – the latest operating system software are now available - Pa4X, Pa4X ORIENTAL, KingKORG, minilogue, KAOSS PAD KP3+, KAOSSILATOR PRO+, nanoKEY Studio and nanoKONTROL Studio 2016.

Well, it’s four sequencers in one; three melodic, with outputs for pitch, mod and gate, and one for drum patterns.Probability dials down from 100 percent (where a step plays every time) to five percent (not often) and lends a nice degree of variation to your sequences. Use the integrated arpeggiator to add further intrigue to your sounds - squeezing every bit of potential out of your digital/analog synths and soft plugins too. Power is handled via micro USB (500mA gives lesser LED brightness, 2A full) or a 9V power input (not supplied). I'm looking to busy out of the 16 step box my Volcas and pocket operators keep me in and out looks like the SQ-64 is the best way for me to go.
